Árvore da família Myrtaceae, da espécie Eugenia luschnathiana Klotz. (Phyllocalyz luschnathianus Berg.).
Nota 1 e 2: Habita a Bahia, principalmente, mas se estende até o Rio de Janeiro. Ela é mediana, de 3-8 m de altura, de copa densa, folhas pecioladas, lanceoladas, descolores, glabras, luzidias. Flores reunidas em pedúnculos axiliares, com 4 pétalas. Fruto baga globosa para obovóide, com 2-3 cm de diâmetro, achatada no ápice, alaranjada brilhante, coroada pelas sépalas verdes, persistente. Possui casca fina, polpa mole, ácida, alaranjada, sucosa, muito aromática, comestível crua ou sob a forma de sucos, doces e sorvetes. A planta reproduz-se por sementes.

Note 1 and 2: It inhabits especially in Bahia state, but it extends to Rio de Janeiro state. It has medium height, of 3-8 m high, with a dense canopy. The leaves are petiolate, lanceolate, discolored, glabrous, and bright. Flowers grouped in axillary peduncles with 4 petals. Rounded berry fruit to obovoid, with2-3 cm of diameter, flattened in the top, bright orange, crowned by the green sepals, persistent one with a thin peel. Its pulp is soft, acid, orange, juicy, very aromatic, edible raw or as juice, candy and ice cream. The plant reproduces itself by seeds.
