Nota 1 e 2: Ela é procedente de Madagáscar. É herbácea, rizomatosa, perene, entouceirada, de 0,5-1,1 m de altura, com numerosas hastes eretas, cilíndricas, com uma coroa de folhas verde-brilhantes, lineares e reclinadas. Há uma forma variegada, com hastes e folhas estriadas de creme-amarelado. Inflorescências no centro da coroa, com folhas numerosas, marrom-claras, de importância secundária como ornamentado. É apropriada para plantio em lugares muito úmidos e brejosos, como nas margens de tanques e lagos, em grupos, renques ou isoladamente. Multiplica-se por divisão de touceira e não raro formam-se mudas por germinação de sementes.

Note 1 and 2: It is native from Madagascar. It is herbaceous, rhizomatous, and perennial, grow in clumps, reaching 0.5-1.1 m high, numerous straight and cylindrical stems, and a crown of bright green, linear, and reclined leaves. It has a variegated shape, with stems and yellowish cream striated leaves. Inflorescences are inside the crown, with numerous leaves, light brown ones of secondary importance as ornament. It is appropriate for planting in very humid and swamped places, like tanks and lakes, in groups, in lines or separately. It reproduces itself by division of clumps and it is not rare to produce seedlings by seed germination.
