ODONTONEMA
Arbusto semi-herbáceo da família Acanthaceae, da espécie Odontonema strictum Kuntze.
Nota 1 e 2: É originário da América Central e multiplica-se facilmente por estacas no final de inverno.É ereto, de 1,0 a 2,0 m de altura, ramificado, de folhas ovalado-alongadas, verde-brilhantes, espessas. Inflorescências terminais, vistosas, com numerosas flores pequenas, vermelhas, muito duráveis, formadas na primavera e no verão; são elas muito visitadas por abelhas jataís e por beija-flores. É próprio para plantio a pleno sol ou meia-sombra, isolado ou em conjuntos, em renques, muros, muretas, cercas, em terra fértil, de boa drenagem.

Note 1 and 2: It is from Central America and reproduces easily by stakes in the end of the winter. It is erect, 1.0 to 2.0 m high, branched, with oval-elongated, bright green and thick leaves. Terminal and showy inflorescences, with numerous small and red flowers, very durable, grown in spring and summer. It is appropriated for cultivation in full sun or part shadow, isolated or in clusters, in line of trees, walls and small walls, fences, in fertile soil, of good drainage.
