Planta da família Labiatae, da espécie Stachys arvensis L.
Nota 1 e 2: É originária da Europa, do norte da África e da Ásia Menor. É uma planta anual, ereta ou decumbente, herbácea, aromática. Possui 10-40 cm de altura, com reprodução por sementes. Folhas alternas, curtopecioladas, margens crenadas, base cordada, esparsamente hirsutas, medindo 2-3 cm de comprimento. Inflorescências axilares, em verticilos de 4-6 flores pequenas, distintas, de coloração róseo-púrpura. É uma erva daninha muito freqüente na região sul do país onde infesta principalmente lavouras de cereais de inverno. Vegeta, predominantemente, no período de inverno e primavera, ocasião em que pode ser encontrada também em pastagens. Possui excelentes qualidades melíferas e é também medicinal, emenagoga, tônica e sudorífica. Foi outrora muito usada para combater o escorbusto.

Alternate, short and petiolate leaves, toothed margins, heart-shaped base, with sparse bristles and with 2-3 cm long. Axillary inflorescences, in small branches with 4-6 small flowers, distinct and pinkish purple ones. It is a weed that is very common in South region of the country where infects, especially, winter cereal plantation. It drifts mostly, in winter and spring, period that it also can be found in pastures. It has excellent melliferous qualities and it is also medicinal, tonic, sudorific, and it cause menstrual period. Once it used to be used to combat scurvy.
