MACUACUA
Árvore da família Leguminaceae, da espécie Strychnos inocua Del.
Nota 1 e 2: É vastamente difundida em Moçambique, donde veio para o Brasil por sementes. É pequena, de 4-12 m de altura, profusamente ramificada; folhas coriáceas, de 5-8 cm de diâmetro, colorindo-se de amarelo-alaranjado na maturação plena, o que se dá no segundo semestre. Na sua terra de origem, a polpa que envolve as sementes é posta para secar e depois transformada em farinha, que tem fama de ser excelente alimento, consumido com avidez pelos naturais.

Note 1 and 2: It is broadly spread in Mozambique, from where it came to Brazil as seeds. It is small, of 4-12 m high, abundantly branched; coriaceous leaves, of 5-8 cm of diameter, orange yellow in full ripeness that occurs in the second semester. In its native land, the pulp that evolves the seeds is put to dry and later processed into flour known for being an excellent food, consumed eagerly by the natives.
