Hortaliça da família Quenopodiacea, da espécie Spinacia oleracea L.
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é muito apreciado nos EUA e na Europa, porém de pequena importância no Brasil. As variedades mais cultivadas são Resistofly, Viroflex e Tonkai, que se desenvolvem bem em clima ameno ou frio, não tolerando altas temperaturas. A colheita inicia-se depois de 35 a 60 dias do plantio, cortando-se toda a planta rente ao solo ou manualmente folha por folha. Elas são comercializadas em maços com o peso de 3 a 4kg.

The most cropped varieties are Resistofly, Viroflex and Tonkai, which develop well in mild or cold climates. The harvest is after 35 to 60 days of the seedling, cutting the whole plant close to the ground or manually cropping the leaves one by one. They are commercialized in sheaves of 3 to 4 kg of weight.
