HELICÔNIA
Gênero de arbustos da família Musaceae, destacando as seguintes espécies H. aemygdiana Burle-Marx (helicônia-amarela), H. angustifólia Hk. (helicônia-vermelha), H. pêndula Hort. (pêndula), H. episcopalis Vell. (chapéu-de-bispo), H. latistatha Benth (asa-de-arara) H. psittacorum L.f. (papagaio) H. rostrata Ruiz et Pav. (caeté), H. velloziana L. Enyged. (bananeirinha).
Nota 2: herbáceos, rizomatosos, entoiceirados cujas alturas podem variar até 3 metros. As folhas são grandes, verdes e de pecíolo longo. As inflorescências são muito vistosas, umas pendentes e outras eretas. São considerados ornamentais, muito valorizados para serem cultivados em parques e jardins.

Note 2: They are herbaceous, rhizomatous, clumpy, reaching approximately 3 meters of height. The leaves are big, green and of a long petiole. The inflorescences are eye-catching, being some pending, others straight. They are considered ornamental, highly appreciated for being cropped in parks and gardens.
