FESTUCA
Gramínea da família Poaceae, da espécie Festuca arundinacea Schreb.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é originária da região mediterrânica europeia e introduzida no Brasil em 1949, adaptando as baixas temperaturas do inverno nos estados do sul. Ela é perene, entouceirada, de crescimento entre 0,90 a 1,30 m de altura. Não se esparrama muito, possui rizomas curtos e folhagem verde-escura brilhante, que quanto mais velha, melhor desenvolve um pasto uniforme e espesso. Também é utilizada para fixar terrenos declivosos e controlar erosão.

Note 1 and 2: It is from the Mediterranean Europe region and introduced to Brazil in 1949, adapting itself well to the low winter temperatures of the Brazilian south states. It is perennial, clumpy, of 0.90 to 1.30 m of height. It does not spread itself a lot, has short rhizomes and bright dark green foliage. As it grows older, it develops a uniform and thick pasture for animals. It is also used for declined land fixation and erosion control.
