Nota 1 e 2: Ele tem sua origem no continente americano, destacando-se no México, Bolívia e Venezuela. Ele é uma dicotiledônea, de raiz principal pivotante, profunda e dotada de extensa ramificação em todas as direções. Seu caule é herbáceo, ou semilenhoso, alcançando altura de 1,50, e apresenta de 20 a 30 nós, nos quais nascem as folhas. Elas são alternas, inteiras, pecioladas, de forma lanceolada, oval, oboval ou elíptica de coloração verde-pálido ao verde azulado, tornando-se amarelada com a maturação e são destinadas à fabricação de cigarros e charutos e também na exploração do alcaloide, a nicotina.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of the American Continent, especially in Mexico, Bolivia and Venezuela. It is dicotyledonous, of deep pivoting main root with an extensive ramification in all directions. Its stem is herbaceous or semi woody reaching 1.5 m of height displaying 20 to 30 knots from where the leaves come out. They are alternated, whole, petiolate but lanceolate shaped, oval, obovoid, or elliptical of a pale green to bluish green color, turning out yellow when mature. They are used to cigarette and cigar manufacturing and nicotine alkaloid exploration.
