INGÁ-FERRADURA-VERDADEIRO
Árvore da família Leguminosae -Mimosoideae, da espécie Inga sessilis Mart. (I. calycina Benth., Mimosa sessilis Vell.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é ocorre no estado do Rio Grande do Sul, nas regiões serranas do sul de Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, até a serra da Cantareira em São Paulo. Ele é de porte mediano, de tronco inclinado, e de casca grossa. As folhas são compostas e estipuladas, grandes, ferrugíneo-pubescentes, com 5-7 jugos de folíolos grandes e de raque alada. A inflorescência é axilar, espigada, de poucas flores, mas grandes e revestidas de pelos ferrugíneos. O fruto é legume espesso, anguloso, verrugoso, viloso, curvo em forma de ferradura, largo, achatado e alongado. A polpa é semifundente, argêntea, adocicada, aromática e comestível.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the hilly mountains of the south of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro until the Cantareira hill in São Paulo state. It is medium height, inclined trunk and thick bark. Its leaves are compound, stipulated, big, rusty, and pubescent, with 5-7 jugos of big follicles and winged rachis. The inflorescence is axillary, spiked, of few flowers, but they are big and covered with rusty hair. The fruit is a thick angled wrinkled hirsute and curved legume like a horseshoe. The pulp is semi-mucilaginous, silver color, sweet, aromatic and edible.
