Arbusto da família Actinidiaceae, do gênero Actinia, da espécie A. deliciosa (Chev.) Lang., e dos cultivares: 1) Alisson e Abbott, 2) Bruno, 3) Hayward, 4) Monty, 5)Mátua e 6)Tomuri.
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é originário das montanhas centrais da China e foi introduzido no Brasil em 1971. Seu caule é sarmentoso, precisando de suporte, e lignifica-se ao envelhecer, atingindo 20 cm de altura. Suas folhas são grandes, ásperas, coriáceas, verdes, de 15-20 cm de diâmetro, que apresentam pelos macios e finos na face inferior, sofrendo modificações durante o desenvolvimento. Suas flores pistiladas são isoladas nas axilas da folha e as estaminadas formam-se em grupos de 3-4. Seu fruto é baga coberta de pelos finos contendo 1.000 a 1.400 sementes pequeninas.

Its stem has runners, needing support to be developed and lignifies as it grows older, reaching 20 cm of height. Its leaves are big, hoarse, coriaceous, and green, of 15-20 cm of diameter and show soft and thin hair on the inferior face, which suffer modification throughout the development. Its pistil flowers are isolated in the underside and the staminate ones are grouped in 3-4. Its fruit is a drupe covered with thin hair and has 1,000-1,400 small seeds.
