Árvore da família Leguminosae-Cesalpinioideae, da espécie Dialium guianense Steud. (D. divaricatum Vahl.; Arouna divaricata Willd., Arouna guianensis Aubl.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela ocorre desde o sul do México e América Central, norte da América do Sul, até a Bahia e Mato Grosso. Ela pode atingir de 15-25 m de altura. As folhas são compostas, imparipenadas, 5-7 folíolos alternos, oval-lanceolados e acuminados. As flores em panículas terminais ou axilares, hermafroditas, amareladas e pequenas. O fruto é vagem subglobosa de 1,5-3 cm de comprimento, indeiscente, comprimida lateralmente, parda. Polpa espessa e fibrosa envolvendo 2 sementes. Semelhante ao sabor do tamarindo, também usado para fazer refrescos.

The leaves are compound, imparipinnate, 5-7 oval lanceolate acuminate alternated follicles. The flowers are small yellow terminal or axillar panicles, which are hermaphrodite. The fruit is a brown long indehiscent sub globous pod of 1.5-3 cm of length. The pulp is thick and fibrous with 2 seeds. It has the taste similar to a tamarind very used to make soft drinks.
