TACACÁ
Árvore frondosa da família Sterculiaceae, que compreende cerca de 50 gêneros e mais de 700 espécies, destacando-se a Sterculia speciosa K. Schum.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela predomina nas regiões tropicais, especialmente no estado do Pará, onde abunda as matas inundadas de várzeas de Belém a Guarupá. Da casca interna, obtêm-se fibras que são utilizadas localmente pela população indígena para o preparo de cordoalha ou estopa.
A leafy tree of the family Sterculiaceae, which has around of 50 genus and more than 700 species, such as Sterculia speciosa K. Schum.
Note 1 and 2: It predominates in the tropical areas, especially in the state of Pará, Brazil, where it abounds in flooded woodlands of Belém to Guarupá. From its internal peel, it is possible to obtain fibers, which are used locally by the indigenous population for the making of oakum and cordage.
