TAIUIÁ-MIÚDO
Trepadeira da família Cucurbitaceae, da espécie Melothria fluminensis (M. microcarpa Griseb.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa das regiões tropicais colombianas e brasileiras. Herbácea, de caules compridos, folhas longo pecioladas, 3-5 lobadas, ásperas, pubescentes na face anterior; flores em racemos, quase sempre pequenas, amarelas, mas eventualmente solitárias. Frutos baga ovoide-fusiforme, até 4,0 cm de comprimento, pendente de pedúnculo capilar. Quando verdes, são cozidos e consumidos como os frutos hortícolas em geral, e, se maduros, a polpa pobre de sabor pode ser comida ao natural.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of Colombian and Brazilian tropical regions. It is herbaceous, long stems, long petiolate leaves, 3-5 lobes, rough, pubescent on its interior; flowers in racemes, almost always small, yellow, but eventually lonesome. Soft, ovoid fusiform fruits, 4.0 cm of length, pending of capillary peduncle. When green, they are cooked and consumed as horticulture fruits in general, once it is ripe, the pulp, poor in flavor, can be eaten naturally.
