O fruto é alimentar, as amêndoas dão óleo culinário e os espiques fornecem madeira para esteios, baldrames e vigas ds construções rústicas, além de palmitos comestíveis. As folhas grandes e em formato de leques servem de vigotas e de repiques para cercados e tapumes de pau-a-pique, e os limbos servem de cobertura eficaz e durável nos ranchos e habitações sertanejos.

Note 1 and 2: It comes from the English Guiana. It has all the survival essential elements to the countryman.The fruit is edible, the nuts give oil for cooking and the trunks supply wood for shores, basements and timber for rustic constructions, besides edible heart palms. The leaves are big and shaped fanlike and they are used for beams, tollings, yards and hedges.The limbs are used for effective and lasting covering in country houses.
