MAMÃO-BRAVO
Árvore da família Caricaceae, da espécie Carica digitata (Jacaratia digitata Solms., Papaya digitata Baill.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é encontrada desde o alto Amazonas até o Chaco argentino. Tem caule curto e grosso, tronco mole; folhas grandes, recortadas, denteadas, de longo pecíolo oco; flores hipocraterimorfas, com longo tubo que se expande em lobos perpendiculares ao seu eixo longitudinal; cuja fecundação é feita por insetos. O látex do fruto, das folhas e do tronco tem fama de tóxico.

Note 1 and 2: It is found since the upper Amazon region to Argentinean Chaco. It is short of thick stem, soft trunk; big, jagged, dentate leaves, of long hollow petiole; hypo cortex flowers, which mea with long tube that expands in perpendicular lobes to its longitudinal axis, whose fertilization is made by insects. The fruit latex, leaf and trunk is famous for being toxic.
