MANJERONA
Planta da família Labiatae, da espécie Majorana hortensis Moench (Origanum Majorana L.).
Nota 1 e 2: De origem europeia, ela é oleífera e aromática, herbácea, de caules e ramos avermelhados, folhas oblongo-ovadas, obtusas e revestidas de pelos curtos; flores violáceas ou brancas, arrumadas em glomérulos axilares; fruto tipo noz. É cultivada em hortas e fundos de quintal a fim de ser utilizada como tempero em culinária e para o preparo de chá tônico. Medra bem em climas subtropicais e temperados e se propaga por sementes distribuídas em alfobres, de preferência nos meses de setembro a dezembro ou de fevereiro a março.

Note 1 and 2: Originated from Europe, it is oily, aromatic, herbaceous, of reddish stems and branches, oblong oval and obtuse leaves, covered by short hairs; lilaceous or white flowers, grouped in axillary glomerulus; nut-like fruit. It is cultivated in vegetable gardens and backyards in order to be used as condiment and for preparation of tonic tea. It thrives well in subtropical and mild climates and it reproduces by seeds distributed in breeding ground, of preference from September to December or from February to March.
