Ela é perene, arbustiva, ereta, muito ramificada, espinhenta, medindo 1-2 m de altura, com reprodução por sementes e por rebrota de pedações de raízes que ficam no solo. Serve para formação de cercas vivas impenetráveis e decoração, quando florida.
