Planta da família Compositae, da espécie Helianthus tuberosus.
Nota 2: Ela é herbácea, multiplicando-se por meio de tubérculos. A colheita se inicia de 6 a 7 meses depois do plantio, cortando-se a folhagem seca e retirando os tubérculos, que são ricos em açúcar e amido e usados na alimentação humana como a batata. As folhas podem ser aproveitadas na alimentação animal, se cortadas antes da maturação.

Note 2: It is herbaceous, multiplying itself by tubers. Its harvest can begin after 6 or 7 months after the seedling, cutting the dry leaves and extracting the tubers, which are rich in sugar and starch for human feeding like potatoes.
