Árvore da família Melastomataceae, da espécie Mouriria grandiflora D.C. (M. macrophylla Cham. & Schlecht; Pentaloma grandiflora Mart.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é amazônica, de ramos cilíndricos; folhas grandes, curtopecioladas, coriáceas, oblongas ou oval-oblongas, de base arredondada, e marginado-cordadas, de ápice agudo, acuminado; flores pentâmeras, grandes; cálice tubuloso-campanulado, pétalas oblíquo-ovadas, estames de anteras recurvas. Fruto pentacular, comestível, mas de sabor sem relevo.

Note 1 and 2: It is from Amazonia, of cylindrical branches; leaves that are big, short petiolate, coriaceous, oblong or oval-oblong, of rounded bottom and cordate margins,of acute and acuminate apex; pentamerous and big flowers; tubular campanulate calyx; oblique ovate petals; stamens of bent anthers. Five-edged and eatable fruit, but with insignificant taste.
