CEIBA
Árvore da família Bombacaceae, do gênero Ceiba (Eriodendron), da espécie Ceiba casearia Medic. (C. pentandra Gaerth., Bombax pentandrum L., B. guianeense Schum. & Thoun, Eriodendron anfractuosum DC., E. occidentale Don, E. orientale Kastel, Xylon pentandrum O. Kuntze).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela ocorre na América tropical (Nordeste do Brasil, do Piauí à Bahia), na Ásia e África. Ela é corpolenta, de sombra esparramada, tronco de conformação de um tonel, curto, enorme, revestido de espinhos cônicos, dois pares nas plantas jovens; os ramos são longos e possantes, horizontalmente estendidos em torno do tronco.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs in the Tropical America (in the northeast of Brazil, from Piauí to Bahia states), in Asia and Africa. It is chunky, wide canopy, huge short barril shape trunk coated by cone spikes, two pairs in young plants; the branches are long horizontally positioned around the trunk.
