Planta da família Theaceae, da espécie Camellia sinesensis (L). O. Kuntze.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa da Ásia, mas cultivada nos hemisférios Norte e Sul. No Brasil, é encontrada na região do vale do Ribeira (no estado de São Paulo). Ela é capaz de produzir durante 50 anos ou mais. Pode atingir a 10 m de altura, sem podas. Suas folhas contêm albumina, clorofila, ácidos gálico, quercitânico e oxálico, matéria corante, resina, celulose, cera, goma, tanino e óleo essencial amarelado, espesso e de cheiro forte.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of Asia, but highly cropped in the North and South hemispheres. In Brazil, it is found in the Ribeira’s Valley (in São Paulo state). It can be productive for more 50 years. It can reach 10 m of height without pruning. Its leaves have albumin, chlorophila, gallic, quercitanic and oxalic acids, coloring matter, resin, cellulose, wax, starch, tanin, and an essential thick yellow oil that has a very strong smell.
