Nome popular de diversas plantas da família Sterculiaceae, do gênero Sterculia, destacando-se as espécies: 1) S. chicha St. Hill. ex Turpin (Manetia curiosa Vell.; Mateatia robusta Vell.), 2) ) S. speciosa K. Schum., 3) S. strita St. Hill. & Naud. (S. lasianta Mart). e 4) ) S. apetala Karst. (Helicteres apetala Jacq.; S. carthaginensis Cav.).
Nota 2: Suas sementes se assemelham às do amendoim, sendo também oleaginosas, comestíveis e com fama de afrodisíacas.

Note 2: Their seeds are similar to the ones of a peanut, oleaginous, edible and are known to be aphrodisiac.
