Arbusto da família Leguminosae, da espécie Bauhinia forficata Link.
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é nativo do Brasil, presente nas pastagens, beiras de estrada e terrenos baldios. Ele é perene, ramificado, caule espinhento, podendo atingir de 4-8 m de altura, com reprodução por sementes. As folhas são alternas, glabras, divididas acima do meio, medindo de 8-10 cm de comprimento, com pecíolos de 2 a 3 cm. As inflorescências são axilares ou terminais, em racemos paucifloros. As flores apresentam dimensões variáveis. A madeira é utilizada para fazer carvão. Ele é usado na medicina popular para o tratamento de afecções urinárias.

Its flowers have different sizes. Its wood is used to make coal. It is used in home medicine for the urinary affection treatments.
