Planta da família Graminae (Poaceae), da espécie Andropogon leucostachyus H.B.K.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é muito abundante em terrenos erodidos e secos como beira de estradas, barrancos, pastagens e terrenos baldios. Ela é perene, ereta, bem entouceirada, herbácea, colmos pigmentados por nós, medindo 40-70 cm de altura, com propagação por sementes e através de curtos rizomas. Folhas glabras, estriadas, medindo 15-25 cm de comprimento por 5,0 mm de largura; bainha glabra e mais ou menos pigmentada; lígula membranácea e brancacenta. Inflorescência em panículas, com 2-5 racemos de coloração esbranquiçada, dispostos numa ráquis denso-pilosa. Vegeta o ano inteiro com inflorescências durante o período invernal; em alguns locais, entretanto, floresce quase o ano inteiro.

Note 1 and 2: It is very aplenty in eroded and dry lands such as side roads, banks, grazing and empty lots. It is perennial, herbaceous, bunchy with pigmented knot stalks, measuring 40-70 cm height, with seed and short rhizome propagation. Glabrous leaves, striated, having 15-25 cm length by 5.0 mm width; glabrous sheath partially pigmented; membranous and chalky ligule. The inflorescences are in panicles disposed in 2-5 whitish racemes, arranged in a thick hair spine. It vegetates throughout the year with inflorescence during the wintertime; in some locations, however, it blooms almost all year around.
