Árvore da família Meliaceae, da espécie Melia azedarach L.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é originária da Ásia e noroeste da Austrália, disseminada por todos os continentes. Ela se propaga através de tubérculos ou de divisão de touceiras, eliminando-se as folhas. Produz bem em solos ricos em matéria orgânica que retenham bem a umidade, ou que estejam situados próximo aos cursos d’água. É consumido cru ou assado e seu sabor lembra o da castanha europeia.

Note 1 and 2: It is from Asia and the northwest of Australia and widespread to all continents. It propagates through tubers or shrub division without the leaves. It can grow better in rich organic matter soils, which retain humidity or are close to watercourses. It can be eaten raw or baked and its taste is similar to the European date.
