MACUCU
Denominação popular para diversas plantas amazônicas, destacando as espécies: 1) Couepia robusta Hub., conhecido por abiurana; 2) Licania heteromorpha Benth. (Lycania guyanensis Klotzsch), macucu-rio-do-negro; 3) Chrysophyllum macoucou Aubl.; 4) 11 plantas, das famílias Leguminosae, Rosaceae, Aquifoliaceae, e Apocinaceae.
Nota 2: A 1) Couepia robusta Hub. é árvore de folhas elípticas, pecioladas, coriáceas, recobertas de pêlos ferrugíneos na face ventral; flores brancas, grandes, em panículas; a 2) Licania heteromorpha Benth. (Lycania guyanensis Klotzsch) tem um mesocarpo do qual se obtém excelente tinta preta para pintura de cuias e outros utensílios; a 3) Chrysophyllum macoucou Aubl.é macucu, mas Licania glabra Mart. (L. costata Spruce) é apontada também como fornecedora de tinta extraída do mesocarpo; e 4) macucu é nome multígeno e indeterminado para estas 11 espécies.

Note 2: The 1) Couepia robusta Hub. is a tree of elliptical, peciolate, coriaceous leaves, covered by ferruginous hairs on ventral side; white, big flowers, in panicles; the 2) Licania heteromorpha Benth. (Lycania guyanensis Klotzsch) has a mesocarp which an excellent black dye is obtained from, for painting of bowls and other utensils; the 3) Chrysophyllum macoucou Aubl. is macucu, but Licania glabra Mart. (L. costata Spruce) is indicated also as a provider of dye extracted from the mesocarp; and 4) macucu is a multigene and undetermined name for these 11 species.
