Planta invasora da família Polypodiaceae, da espécie Pteridium aquilinum (L.) Kuhn in Kersten.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela vegeta bem em solos ácidos e úmidos, em áreas abertas e abandonadas. A colheita deve ser feita quando as folhas estiverem ainda enroaldas, com 40-50 cm de comprimento. Multiplica-se por esporos ou rizomas.
