Árvore da família Lecythidaceae, da espécie Lecythis grandiflora Aubl. (Chytroma grandiflora Miers., Eschweilera grandiflora Sandw.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa da América Central à Amazônia. Ela pode atingir de 15-25 m de altura, tem copa arredondada com folhas alternas, simples e curtopecioladas, ovais, agudas, glabras, onduladas, rígidas e interias. Suas flores em racemos terminais, de 6-8 unidades. Os frutos são pixídios lenhosos, espessos, encerrando de 12-40 sementes pardo-escuras, fusiformes, contendo amêndoas brancas, de sabor magnífico.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of Central America until Amazonia. It can reach 15-25 m of height, has a round canopy with leaves, which are alternate, simple, short petiolate, oval, acute, glabrous, wavy, rigid and whole. Its flowers are in terminal racemes with 6-8 unities. Its fruits are woody thick pixids, with 12-40 seeds, which are dark brown and fusiform containing white almonds of magnific taste.
