Nome popular de arbustos medicinais e melíferos da família Euphorbiaceae, das espécies Croton campestres Muell. Arg. e C. astroginus Baill.
Nota 2: Suas flores são brancas em cachos. Suas sementes são bem apreciadas pelas aves, de onde se extraí um óleo comestível, usado na culinária. As folhas maceradas, em uso tópico, são utilizadas contra artrite e reumatismo. Os ramos finos são usados para alimentação de animais, feno ou silagem. O chá feito com as pontas novas é usado contra afecções venéreas, catarro-de-bexiga, elefantíase, epilepsia, úlceras. Também é ótimo remédio contra anemia e desnutrição.
