Árvore da família Annonaceae, da espécie Annona reticulata L. (A. excelsa H.B.K., A. humboldtii Dun., A.longifolia Mocc. & Sessé.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é originaria das Antilhas e da América tropical. Ela é de porte mediano, de 5-9 m de altura. Seu fruto é sincarpo subgloboso para ovóide, geralmente com formato de coração sustentado por um pedúnculo grosso que se prolonga pelo centro da fruta, 6-12 cm de diâmetro, podendo até atingir peso próximo a 1 kg de cascas avermelhada, amarelenta ou verdes.

Note 1 and 2: It is from the Antilles and tropical America. It has medium height reaching 5-9 m. Its fruit is a subglobose to ovoid syncarp resembling a heart sustained by a thick stalk that elongates from the fruit of 6-12 cm of diameter with the weight reaching until 1 kg. It has reddish, yellowish or greenish skin color. Vulgarization: jamaica apple.
