Planta trepadeira da família Vitaceae, da espécie Cissus sicyoides L. (C. latifolia Descourt, C. ovata Lam., Vitis sicyoides Baker, V.vitiginea Ktze, var.repens Ktze).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa pan-americana, das Antilhas até o Rio Grande do Sul e Uruguai. E lenhosa e vivaz, grimpadora e longocaminhante (6 -10 m de comprimento), ou seja, emite abundantes raízes aéreas, verticalmente pendentes, utilizadas para adornar terraços e alpendres.
