Planta da família Mirtaceae, da espécie Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. & Perry.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa do Extremo Oriente. Ela pode atingir 15 m de altura e se desenvolve bem em climas quentes e úmidos. Possui folhas persistentes, flores hermafroditas e frutos do tipo drupa semelhantes à azeitona. A sua colheita consta da retirada manual dos botões florais no momento em que passam da coloração verde para a rósea-avermelhada, o que acontece 5 ou 6 meses depois de seu aparecimento.

Note1 and 2: It is native of the Far East. It can reach 15 m of height growing well in hot and humid climates. It has persistent leaves, hermaphrodite flowers and berry fruit similar to an olive. Its bud harvest is made manually when their color change from green to pink-red after 5 to 6 months of their appearance.
