Planta ornamental do gênero Tagetes, da família Compositae, da espécie T. patula L.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é originária do México, donde foram introduzidas no Brasil, tendo se adaptado do Norte ao Sul, tornando-se até subespontâneas. Ela é perene, anual, herbácea, de caule sulcado, ereto atingindo até 45 cm e ramificado desde a base. As flores são pardo-avermelhadas com bordos amarelos. Os chás dos capítulos são empregados na medicina caseira contra dores reumáticas, resfriados, bronquite, tosse, além de serem considerados emenagogos, estimulantes e anti-helmínticos. Devido ao seu nome é considerado de mau agouro ou no mínimo de mau gosto para emprego em jardins.
An ornamental plant of the genus Tagetes, of the family Compositae, of the species T. patula L.
Note 1 and 2: It is from Mexico and introduced to Brazil adapting itself from the north to the south, even becoming a sub spontaneous species. Perennial, annual, herbaceous, grooved and straight stem can reach until 45 cm being branchy since its base. The flowers are reddish-yellow with yellow sides. The tea from the chapters are used in home medicine against rheumatic pain, cold, bronchitis, coughing, besides being antiseptic, stimulant and anti-helminthic. Due to its name it is considered of bad luck or bad taste to be planted in gardens.
