CROSNE-DO-JAPÃO
Planta da família Labiatae, da espécie Staychys sieboldii Miq. (S. affinis Bunge non Fresenius; S. tubifera Naudin).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é originária da China e Japão, mas pouco cultivada no Brasil. É herbácea, alimentar, que atinge 25-50 cm de altura, de flores pequenas, brancas ou levemente rosadas, dispostas em espigas. Seus túberos são brancos, tenros, compridos e nodosos, que se desenvolvem logo abaixo da superfície do solo e que são consumidos crus ou cozidos. Apresentam sabor adocicado que lembra o da batata e da alcachofra.

Note 1 and 2: It is typical from China and Japan, but little cropped in Brazil. It is herbaceous, edible ranging from 25-50 cm of height, of small white or slightly pink flowers in spikes. Its tuberous roots are white, tender, long and knotted which develop right under the soil surface and can be eaten raw or cooked. They have a sweet flavor that remind the same one of potatoes and artichokes.
