CRYSOPHILA
Gênero de palmeira (Acanthorhiza) da família Palmae, das espécies: 1) Crysophila nana Blume (Acanthorhiza aculeatea Wendel.), 2) Crysophila warscewiczii Barlett, 3) Crysophila chuco Drude (Acanthorhiza chuco Drude).
Nota 1 e 2: Ele ocorre na América Central e Sul. As palmeiras têm folhas penadas, grandes e muito redondas. O estipe mostra pequenas raízes aéreas, às vezes ramificadas, mas sempre com aspecto de espinho. Algumas dessas raízes aéreas, mais baixas, tornam-se verdadeiras, se aprofundam no solo, permanecendo aéreas as de cima sem alcançar a terra.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs in Central and South America. The palm trees have big round and penate leaves. The stem shows small aerial roots, sometimes branched, but always resembling thorns. The low aerial roots fix themselves in the soil becoming real, while the others remain aerial without touching the ground.
