Nota 2: São cerca de 800 espécies, a maioria de climas quentes, muitas são medicinais e outras alimentares, fornecedoras de frutos hortícolas extensamente cultivados e apreciados, tais como o chuchu, abóbora, pepino, maxixe e outras que não participam das refeições principais, como o melão, a melancia, que têm grande importância econômica.

Note 2: They include about 800 species, typically found in hot climates. Many of them are medicinal and others are edible producing highly appreciated cropped vegetable fruits such as chayotes, pumpkins and cucumbers. In addition, others that are not part of the main meals, such as melons and watermelons, but have a great economical value.
