CUMARU-DO-CEARÁ
Árvore da família Leguminosae-Papilionatae, da espécie Torresea cearensis Ft. All. (Amburana cearensis A. Smith).
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é nativo das caatingas nordestinas, mas ocorre do Maranhão e se estende por Piauí, ceará, Pernambuco, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso até Argentina. Ele pode atingir até 10 m de altura, tronco de casca avermelhada, suberosa, que se destaca em tiras. As folhas são alternas, com 7- 12 folíolos ovados. As flores são alvas, pequenas, aromáticas, dispostas em racemos axilares de numerosas flores decorativas dominando vistosamente a copa, sem folhas na época do florescimento. O fruto é vagem chata, preta, contendo semente alada, chata, rugosa, preta e perfumada, servindo para aromatização. As cascas e sementes são peitorais e antiespasmódicas e o banho do decoto das cascas combate o reumatismo.

It can reach 10 m of height; the trunk has reddish and branchy bark in layers. The leaves are alternated, composed with 6-8 oval follicles. The flowers are white and aromatic in axial bunches with numerous decorating flowers over the canopy due to the lack of leaves during the blossoming. The fruit is a flat black pod with perfumed wrinkled black seeds that can be used for aromatization. The barks and seeds have pectoral and antispasmodic properties and the bark bath can fight against rheumatism.
