CUMBUCA-DE-MACACO
Árvore da família Lecythidaceae, da espécie Lecythis pisonis Camb. (L. ollaria Vell.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela se encontra do Amazonas a Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo. Ela pode alcançar de 20-30 m de altura, retilínea, com fustes de 10-15m x 30-70 cm, de casca grossa, profundamente gretada. Seu fruto é pixídio lenhoso, de casca muito grossa e dura, pardo-escura, mais ou menos cilíndrico, de base estreitada, de 15-20 cm de altura x 7-10 cm de largura, opérculo discóide e convexo. Suas sementes variam de 12-30, são grandes, de testa dura e lisa, encerrando amêndoa oleaginosa, muito saborosa e alimentícia. Da casca se obtém estopa para calafetagem, e água fervida na cumbuca vazia é usada para males urinários.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs from Amazonas to Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo states. It can reach 20-30 m of height, rectilinear with a trunk of 10-15m x 30-70 cm, thick cracked bark. Its fruit is a woody pixidio, thick and hard brownish skin, cylindrical with a narrow base of 15-20 cm of height x 7-10 cm of width, with a convex and disk lid. Its seeds vary from 12-30, are big of hard and smooth texture containing edible and tasty oily nuts. From its skin, tow can be obtained to use in custom weather and boiled water in it can be used to heal urinary diseases.
