Árvore da família Sterculiaceae, da espécie Theobroma grandiflorum (Willd. ex Spreng.) Schum. (Bubroma grandiflora Willd.), Deltonea lactea Peckolt; Guazuma grandiflora D. Don.; Theobroma macrantha Bern.; Theobroma silvestre Spruce; Theobroma speciosum Mart.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela ocorre no Pará e norte do Maranhão. Seu porte é de 6-12 m, folhas grandes, de até 35 cm de comprimento, alternas, simples, curto-pecioladas e coriáceas. O fruto é baga drupácea, elipsoide, medindo 12-25 cm de comprimento x 10-12 cm de diâmetro, pesando até 1,5 kg, de casca dura e lenhosa, revestida de indumento cor de ferrugem de fácil remoção. È de inigualável importância como matéria-prima de refrescos, sorvetes, licores, geleias, compotas e marmelada.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs in the states of Pará and the north of Maranhão. It can reach from 6-12 m of height; the leaves are big with until 35 cm of length, alternated, simple, branched and coriaceous. The fruit is an elliptical drupe berry reaching 12-25 cm of length x 10-12 cm of diameter, weighing until 1.5 kg of hard skin and woody, covered with a rusty color texture of easy removal. It is of high importance as a raw material for soft drinks, ice cream, liquors, jams, canned sweets and marmalade.
