Planta da família Gentianaceae, da espécie Tachia guyanensis Aubl. (Myrmecia scandens Willd., M. tachia Gmel.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela ocorre nas Guianas, Amapá, Amazonas (vale do rio Negro), Pará até o Ceará; Ela é um arbusto de 2m de altura, de caule e ramos quadrangulares e fistulosos; As suas folhas são oblongas, acuminadas, espessas, peninervadas, com um palmo de comprimento e 10 cm de largura, de pecíolos curtos; As suas flores são solitárias, axilares, sésseis ou quase, amarelas; O seu fruto é cápsula oblonga, de cálice persistente, com abundantes sementes pardas, pequenas e luzidias; Ela é uma planta medicinal, com muito apreço na farmácia popular por suas raízes simples, compridas, de lenho esponjoso, brancacento e sabor fortemente amargo, graças ao conteúdo glicosídeo taquinina, sendo estimadas por suas propriedades antitérmicas e antifermentescíveis; Além disso, a tintura obtida das raízes é usada no tratamento nas febres intermitentes.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs in the Guianas, and in Amapá, Amazonas (Rio Negro valley), Pará until Ceará states. It is a bush of 2m high, of square and fistulous steam and branches. Its leaves are oblong, acuminated, and thick, with medium and small nervures, with a hand span of length and 10 cm of width, with short petioles. Its flowers are solitary, axillary, almost or with no support, yellow. Its fruit is an oblong capsule, of a persistent calix, with many brown seeds that are small and shining. It is a medicinal plant, very appreciated in popular pharmacy for its simple roots that are long, of spongy and white xylem and have a strong bitter taste due to the glucose content, being estimated by its anti-thermic and anti-ferment proprieties. Besides, the ink obtained from its roots is used in the treatment against intermittent fevers.
