Nota 1 e 2: Ela é americana e nativa das formações florestais de clima fresco, ocorrendo nas Antilhas, Guianas, América Central até Colômbia, de Minas ao Rio Grande do Sul. Ela pode atingir até 2 m de altura e tronco de 10 cm de diâmetro. Ela fornece lindos e saborosos frutos negros, de forma orbicular, medindo 8 x 7 mm, de casca fina pilosa, com pelos hirsutos, de coloração negra. A polpa é violácea, fundente, doce, muito sucosa e que se come de mistura com as sementinhas que são numerosas.

Note 1 and 2: It is American and native of the cool weather woodland formations. It occurs in the Antilles, Guyanas, and Central America to Colombia, from Minas Gerais to Rio Grande do Sul states. It can reach up to 2 m of height and its trunk can have 10cm of diameter. Its black fruit is beautiful, tasty, and spherical and it measures 8 x 7 mm, with a thin and hairy skin, with hirsute hair of black color; its pulp has violet color, it melts easily, it is sweet and very juicy, and it is eaten mixed with the little seeds that are numerous.
