Arbusto da família Dilleniaceae, da espécie Curatella americana L.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é nativa desde o México até à América do Sul (Amazônia, Venezuela, Colômbia, Brasil Central). Ela tem caule curto, tortuoso e nodoso.Fruto de modesta polpa adocicada, que se come crua, e suas sementes, devidamente assadas ou cozidas. As folhas são substitutas da lixa para polir madeira e metais.

Its fruit has a little sweet pulp that can be eaten raw and its seeds can be edible when baked or cooked. Its leaves can be used as sand paper for shining wood or metals.
