CAJU-VERMELHO-DE-GOIÁS
Árvore da família Anacardiaceae, da espécie Anacardium othonianum Rizz.
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é encontrado nas matas e campos de Goiás e de Brasília (DF). Possui 3-6 m de altura, o tronco não é muito tortuoso, de córtex fusco, fissurado. Ramos crassos, sulcados, ferrugíneos. Folhas elípticas, de base obtusa e ápice emarginado, glabras, de pecíolo não muito longo. Flores róseas, hermafroditas e masculinas em panículas amplas. O fruto é bastante escavado em sua parte central e o pseudofruto é de cor avermelhada, sucoso, ácido e comestível. Pode ser usado em sucos, sorvetes, geleias e doces.

Note 1 and 2: It is found in the forests and fields of Goias state and Brasilia (Federal District). It has 3-6 m of height; the trunk is not very tortuous, with a fuscous cortex, fissured. The branches are crass, furrowed and ferrugineous. The leaves are elliptical, glabrous, with an obtuse basis and an acuminate apex, their petioles are not very lengthy. The flowers are rosy, hermaphrodite and masculine in broad panicles. The fruit is quiet excavated in its central part and the pseudofruit, which has a reddish colouration, is juicy, acid and edible. It can be used in juices, ice creams, jellies and sweeties.
