Conjunto de arbustos da família Myrtaceae, das espécies Eugenia crenata Vell (E. velloziana Berg., Myrtus sylvestris Piso.), Myrcia alloiota Kgk.( Aulomyrcia alloiota Berg.), Eugenia hiemalis Camb.(E. multiflora Camb. e E. polycarpa Berg.), Myrciaria cuspidata Berg.
Nota 1 e 2: Ele ocorre na região litorânea que vegeta nas restingas, desde o Nordeste ao Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo. As folhas são opostas, curtopecioladas, elíptico-lanceoladas, agudas, inteiras, glabras, medindo, em média, 6 cm de comprimento x 2 cm de largura, elas possuem aroma agradável, são adstringentes e usadas em chás e cozimentos na medicina popular (gargarejos); as flores são alvas, dispostas em racemos; o fruto é uma baga pequena, do tamanho de uma cereja, roxa, comestível e saborosa, embora adstringente.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs in the coastal regions that vegetate the restingas, from the Northeast to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo states. The leaves are opposite, shortpetiolated, elliptic-lanceolate, acute, entire and glabrous, measuring, on average, 6 cm of length x 2 cm of width, with a pleasant scent. They are astringent and used in teas and cookings in the popular medicine (gargles); the flowers are white, disposed in racemes; the fruit is a small berry, whose dimensions are similar to those of a cherry, purple, edible and tasty, but astringent.
