CAMBUCI
Árvore pequena da família Myrtaceae, da espécie Paivea langsdorfii Berg. (Campomanesia phaea Berg.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é encontrada principalmente no estado de São Paulo, ocorrendo também em Minas Gerais e no Rio de Janeiro, sendo raramente encontrada fora desses estados, exclusiva de floresta semidecidua. Possui ramos fusco-pubescentes enquanto jovens; folhas pecioladas, ovaladas, acuminadas, rígidas na parte superior e pálidas e saliente-nervadas na parte inferior; flores brancas, de 5 pétalas e 5 sépalas, com numerosos estames na axila dos ramos novos; o fruto é uma baga orbicular, tendo 14 lóculos e poucas sementes, adstringente, mas comestivel, utilizado em aguardente de cana, sozinho ou junto com frutos de uvaia. Sua madeira é moderadamente pesada, textura média e boa durabilidade em ambiente interno, muito usada na marcenaria e na carpintaria.Tem importância ornamental, sendo usada no paisagismo, na arborização de ruas e na recomposição de áreas degradadas de preservação permanente. Floresce de agosto a novembro e seus frutos ficam maduros de janeiro a fevereiro.

Note 1 and 2: It is found mainly in the state of São Paulo, but it also occurs in the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, it is seldom found in other Brazilian states, exclusive of semideciduous forests. It has fuscous and pubescent branches when young; oval and peciolate leaves, acuminate and rigid on the top, pale and ribbed on the bottom. Its flowers are white, with 5 petals and 5 five sepals and endowed with stamens in the axils of the new branches. Its fruits are orbicular berries with 14 locules and few seeds, having astringent taste; yet, they are edible and used in sugarcane brandy manufacturing, individually or with uvaia berries. Its wood is moderately heavy, with a medium texture and a good durability indoors; it is used in carpentry work. It also has an ornamental importance, used in landscaping projects and in the recomposition of degraded areas of permanent preservation. It flourishes between August and November and presents ripe fruits between January and February.
