Árvore da família Euphorbiaceae, da espécie Ophthalmoblapton crassipes Muell. Arg.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é abundante nos campos e cerrados da região paulista de São Carlos. A árvore é lactescente. Possui ramagem profundamente marcada por cicatrizes, folhas de pecíolos curtos e espessados, medindo vinte ou mais centímetros de comprimento; flores masculinas em espigas dotadas de longo pedúnculo. A árvore deu nome à Fazenda Experimental de Canchim e, posteriormente, à raça bovina brasileira de corte, ali formada.
A tree of the family Euphorbiaceae, of the species Ophthalmoblapton crassipes Muell. Arg.
Note 1 and 2: It is abundant in the fields and cerrados of the region of São Carlos (in the state of São Paulo). The tree is lactescent. It has a foliage deeply marked by scars; the leaves have short and thickened petioles, which possess 20 or more centimeters of length. The masculine flowers are organized in cobs and have long peduncles. The tree has given its name to the Experimental Farm of Canchim and, lately, to the race of Beef Cattle Canchim, formed in the same farm.
