Árvore da família Compositae, da espécie Vanillosmopsis erythropapa (DC) Schultz( Lychnophora salicifolia M.).
Nota 1 e 2: Cresce da Bahia a São Paulo. Ela é pequena; possui folhas sésseis, acuminadas, linear-lanceoladas, coriáceas, alvacentas embaixo; inflorescência em capítulos 5-6 floros; flores roxas. Cresce em cerrados, campos e terrenos devastados, pois prefere solos pobres. Fornece madeira resinosa, branco-acinzentada, dura, compacta, pesada e lisa, própria para obras internas (lugares úmidos), esteios, mourões de cerca, postes, tornos, coronha e carpintaria, possui ótima lenha.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs from the state of Bahia until the state of São Paulo. It is small; it has sessile, small, acuminate and coriaceous leaves, which are linear-lanceolate and whitish in the bottom surface. The inflorescence is organized in capitulum of 5-6 flowers, the flowers are purple. It grows in cerrados and degraded fields, because it prefers poor soils. It provides a resinous wood, which is white-greyish, thick, compact, heavy and smooth, appropriate to be used in internal works, mainstays, fence posts, lathes and butts. It is also used in carpentry and it possesses an excellent firewood.
