CANELA-CHEIROSA
Árvore da família Lauraceae, da espécie Endlicheria hirsuta Nees.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela habita desde a Amazônia até o Rio Grande do Sul. Ela atinge até 26 m de altura; possui raminhos cilíndricos, enquanto jovens densamente amarelos, depois pardo-escuros e glabros; folhas pecioladas, elípticas ou oblongas, lanceoladas, agudas, coriáceas, peninervadas, glabras na página superior e pubescentes na inferior; flores seríceas, amarelo-esverdeadas, aromáticas, dispostas em panículas; fruto baga elipsoide, mucronada, lisa, com cúpula verde-amarelada inteira. Fornece madeira branca, de ótima qualidade, própria para construção civil. A casca é aromática, e assim como as folhas, adstringente. A espécie é evidentemente polimorfa, com indivíduos masculinos e femininos muito distintos.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs from the Amazonia until the state of Rio Grande do Sul. It reaches up to 26 m; it has little cylindrical branches, which are densely yellow when young, and dark-brown and glabrous afterwards. The leaves are petiolated, elliptcal or oblong, lanceolate, acute, coriaceous, peninerved, glabrous in the top surface and pubescent in the bottom one. The flowers are sericeous, yellow-greenish, aromatic and disposed in panicles; the fruit is an ellipsoid berry, which is acute, smooth and with an entire green-yellowish cupule. It provides a white wood of excellent quality, appropriate for construction industry. The bark is aromatic, and just like the leaves, astringent. The species is evidently polymorphous; the masculine individuals are very different from the feminine ones.
