Árvore da família Lauraceae, da espécie Ocotea macropada Mez. var brasiliensis.
Nota 1 e 2: A variedade ocorre nas serras de Minas Gerais, São Paulo e Goiás. A espécie possui até 7 m de altura, raminhos flexuosos, angulosos e acinzentados; folhas grossopecioladas, oblongas, agudas nas duas extremidades, até 10 cm de comprimento, coriáceas e luzidias na página superior; flores hermafroditas, amarelas e dispostas em panículas; fruto baga, globosa, preta, de 12 mm. Fornece maderia inferior, própria para tabuado, a casca é adstringente.

Note 1 and 2: The variety occurs in the mountains of the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Goiás. The species reaches up to 7 m of height; it has angular, greyish and sinuous little branches; the leaves are oblong, acute in both edges, shiny in the top surface and coriaceous, they also have up to 10 cm of length and thick petioles. The flowers are hermaphrodite, yellow, and disposed in panicles; the fruit is a globose and black berry, which has 12 mm. The tree provides an inferior wood, which is used as plywood; the bark is astringent.
